“My work is representational and draws on the colors and

rhythms of nature.  I build layers of texture in my fine art,

creating pieces that push the boundaries of the 2D category.”

Award winning artist, Diane Dean, works in mixed media/collage and encaustic (melted bees wax).  Though she has been painting for over twenty years, she spent much of her professional life in the graphic arts technology field.  Throughout her career Diane has presented seminars and lectures in graphic design concepts, color theory and the use of technology in the development of visual communications.  Her work was recently featured by two Savannah television stations during the Savannah Home Show and on HGTV's That's Clever series. 

Her work can be seen at Maye River Gallery in Bluffton, Horizon Gallery in Savannah, Teal Gallery in Roswell, GA. and ART MoB Studios in Hendersonville, NC and the Van Dyke Gallery, Asheville.  Her most recent juried shows include the Savannah Arts Council’s annual “Arts on the River”, “The Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibit” in Charleston The Annual Telfair Museum Art Show and the MidTown Atlanta Arts Festiva, Atlanta Arts Festival, Chastain Arts Festival in Atlantal and the Mont Dora Festival of the Arts.

Recent awards include: "Best Booth" Chastain Arts Festival, Atlanta, “Best in Show” SoBA Annual Show, (judged by the Curator of the prestigious Telfair Museum - Savannah ,   “Best of Show” in the annual Dahlonega Mountain Flower Fine Arts Festival, the “Merit Award” in the annual Art Market at Honey Horn.  Diane’s mixed media painting, “Fall Winetime” was recently selected as the artwork for the Coastal Discovery Museum’s “Winetime” wine auction held in October at Honey Horn.

Diane also teaches a number Acrylic, Abstract Painting and PhotoShop for Artists workshops and classes. 

She has served on the Board of Directors of a number of art related organizations including the Island School Council for the Arts, a non-profit organization that provides artists-in-residence programs, art materials and equipment, and scholarships for local schools.
